Last updated: 10 July 2025 · Effective: 10 July 2025

These terms govern your use of the Nurani Sirih website at nuranis.biz and our engagement letters with clients. Please read them. By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or our services.

1. Definitions

2. Acceptance of terms

By using this website or instructing us to act on your behalf, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and agree to these terms. If you are acting on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

3. Description of services

Nurani Sirih provides family law services in Malaysia, including divorce proceedings, maintenance applications, children's arrangements, document preparation and legal advice sessions. Services are available to clients located in or with matters before the courts of Kedah and Peninsular Malaysia. The office does not practise in areas outside family law.

Information on this website is provided for general purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. It does not create a solicitor-client relationship. A solicitor-client relationship begins only when an engagement letter has been signed by both parties.

4. Your responsibilities

When using our services, you agree to:

5. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, layout and design — is the property of Nurani Sirih or its licensors. You may read and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, redistribute or create derivative works from any content without our written consent. Client documents prepared by the office for your matter remain subject to the engagement letter terms.

6. Payment terms

All fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). The fee for each service is confirmed in the engagement letter before work begins. Payment methods accepted include bank transfer and cash. For the one-hour advice session, payment is due at the time of booking. For document drafting and full representation, payment arrangements are set out in the engagement letter.

The one-hour advice session fee (RM 160) is non-refundable if cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice. For other services, any refund is governed by the terms of the engagement letter.

7. Scope, changes and termination of services

The scope of each engagement is defined in the written engagement letter. If the scope needs to change, the office will advise you in writing before any additional work is carried out. Either party may terminate the engagement by giving written notice. The office may cease acting if professional obligations require it or if fees remain unpaid. On termination, the office will provide reasonable assistance to transfer the file.

8. Disclaimers

Legal outcomes cannot be predicted with certainty. Nothing on this website or in our advice sessions constitutes a commitment to a particular result. The information on this website is provided in good faith but may not reflect the most current legal developments. You should not act on website content alone without obtaining specific advice for your situation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, the office's liability for any claim arising from services provided is limited to the fees paid for the specific matter giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or economic losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, professional negligence or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify the office against any claims, losses or costs arising from your provision of inaccurate or misleading information, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of this website.

11. Confidentiality

All communications between you and the office are subject to legal professional privilege. We will not disclose client information to third parties without your written consent, except where required by law or our professional obligations to the Malaysian Bar.

12. Dispute resolution

If you have a complaint about our services, please contact us in writing at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint within two working days and respond in full within ten working days.

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kedah, Malaysia.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For ongoing client engagements, changes to the engagement letter require written agreement from both parties.
